Book Club neu [nòi] · Leggiamo insieme
neu [nòi]'s Book Club is a monthly collective reading space, where the book is really just a pretext for talking about everything else — glass of wine or spritz in hand, no academic hierarchy allowed to referee.
The Book Club started in 2021, proposed by a member, following the same principle behind everything we do: whoever has an idea takes care of it, with the community's support. Since then it's become one of the association's longest-running and best-attended formats, keeping the space alive even outside working hours.
For us, the book is never the point of arrival. It's a window onto the world and onto yourself, a pretext for stretching the conversation into current affairs, sociology, personal experience — in a convivial atmosphere, with a glass of wine or spritz helping to close the distance between strangers. Whoever's organising picks the titles with more passion than diplomacy, and it shows: the reading list runs from classics to contemporary novels, sociology and linguistics essays, biographies like the one on Paolo Borsellino, and detours into graphic novels like Persepolis.
2025 was a particularly rich year, with eight meetings tackling demanding texts like The Eighth Life (for Brilka) and Memoirs of Hadrian. The method hasn't changed: open discussion, where misunderstanding or disagreement isn't a problem to avoid but a driver of creativity. There's even an informal rule, half joke and half serious, that sums up the group's spirit: no wars over Pavese. An ironic, undogmatic way of gathering around culture, one that turns the stranger sitting next to you into a familiar face.
The project runs on the active volunteering of whoever organises it, but that care work doesn't stay invisible: it's recognised and rewarded through the NEU social currency, like every other contribution that keeps the association's life going. neu [nòi] covers the space for free and offers the aperitivo at every meeting — a small gesture that, together with the books, keeps turning strangers into a community that knows each other through reading.
